    Description/Qualifications

    The Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine team, comprised of 6 full time physicians, is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our established hospital-based program. The Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine team is a critical part of our unit culture overseeing the safety of hospitalized children and newborns with 3400 births per year at Salem Health.

     

    The Nurse Practitioner will serve as the second person on shift, assisting the physician with newborn admits, progress notes, and discharges. Additional responsibilities include participating in QA work, partnering with physicians, collecting data, chart reviews, nursing education – all to support program growth.

    • Access to Telemedicine through Oregon Health and Sciences University.

    Salem Health Women & Children’s Services Division includes:

    • 10 bed Pediatric Unit which provides inpatient and outpatient services
    • 26 bed Mother Baby Unit
    • 19 bed Labor & Delivery Unit (12 labor and 7 antepartum beds) with 2 operating rooms
    • 27 bed level IIIA Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

    The successful candidate will have a strong sense of independence, excellent communication skills, detail-minded chart analysis skills, comfort in caring for both sick and intermediate level newborns, interest in QA and continuing education focused on professional development.

    • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner through the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
    • Completion of a Pediatric or Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program recognized by the Oregon Board of Nursing.
    • At least 12-months relevant NP experience in a hospital setting, within the expanded specialty area within the past three (3) years.
    • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or an equivalent Medicare/Medicaid approved certifying body, or be actively seeking certification and obtain the same in the specialty area requested within two (2) years of privileges being granted at Salem Health.
    • Current DEA certification.
